Dark Places

Well, it's all go. There are lots of projects currently underway - like I actually have spare time! But for the future, look forward to Dark Places and Bloodplay.

One of the more recent new segments I wrote and edited for The Signal was a mini audio-drama called Moonshine, which is a film noir detective serial set in the Firefly universe. Anyone who liked Borderline will like Moonshine.

Dark Places is an audio drama. It's Firefly, but darker. Maybe Firefly as Stephen King or Scott Sigler might have written it. This is not merely a podcast novel, however, it's a full-blown audio drama, complete with professional sound effects, music and actors. Dark Places is the story of Slate, a man who's just lost everything he cares about - and he wants revenge! There is a lot more to it than that, but I don't give spoilers, so you'll just have to wait for the rest. The plan is to have Dark Places finished sometime during 2008. But one thing I will promise is that once it starts airing, you won't have to wait more than a week between episodes - that's because we plan to finish it before airing any part of it. Dark Places began its life as a novel. Now we're bringing it to life. I think you'll like it.

Bloodplay is an original novel. That's right - it's not Firefly. For the first time since my obsession with Firefly began, I'm writing an original novel, set in a universe of my own. It's not my first fully original novel, but it is the first that I'm making public. The full title of the novel will be Bloodplay: Love Song for a Vampire. I'll tell you that it's a character driven hard science fiction novel, but for more, you'll have to wait. I'm still working on this one, after all, and it would be silly to tell you more before I've even finished writing it. But when it's done, I will podcast it, and I can tell you: I am looking forward to that.

There's other stuff still ongoing, of course. Let's not forget The Signal. I can't claim sole responsibility for that one, as it's a team effort, but I do at least write and edit some of it. I used to do a lot more, but at the end of season three, I quit so I could focus more of Dark Places. And that, indeed, is my aim.
